From kayaking, jogging, croquet, Frisbee, volleyball, soccer, sunbathing, swimming, to sandcastle-building, there is no shortage of activities to enjoy on Chesterman Beach.

If spending your days on the ocean trying to catch waves sounds good to you, we are happy to mention that there is superb surfing in Tofino – the best in Canada, in fact. There are several Tofino surfing shops that carry anything and everything you might have left at home or suddenly realize you need. The O’Neil Cold Water Classic has been held on our shores.

If you are a naturalist staying at our Tofino beach house, two of the BEST activities to enjoy on the beach are beach-combing – where you will discover the myriad of sea life in the mini tidal pools left behind by the receding waters – and whale watching. The species most often spotted in the area are Sprays, Humpbacks, Orcas, Minkes, and in some exceptional circumstances even the great Blue Whales. Several businesses not too far from Chesterman House provide tours that take you to right where the whales are so you can watch them up close.

Did you ever see the movie “Wuthering Heights”? For those that enjoy Nature’s thrills and high drama there are the unforgettable Tofino storms with their lightning, thunder, bracing winds and crashing waves against the cliffs … movie material at its best!

Kite boarding for the extreme sportsperson is another activity which you may want to try out in Tofino and, yes – there is even something for the golfing enthusiasts!

Did we mention that while staying at our Chesterman Beach accommodation you will be able to enjoy the abundance of family-oriented activities taking place, such as the annual Pacific Rim Whale Festival, the West Coast Music Society concerts, the Edge to Edge Marathon, and the Tofino Food and Wine Festival?
